Here is what you missed – February 28 Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Roland Ramirez, Chris Beanes, Daniel Schollaert, Enrique E. Andrade, Dan Munoz, Jose Rivas, Al Munguia, Jose Isral, Melanie Davis, Ismael V. Meda, Ofilia Zamora-Ward, and David Martinez

Website Update: Been cleaned up. Working on adding facebook link, update information, logos, and format

Sponsor/Partner Update:  Wells Fargo LGBT Employee Group (thanks to Consuelo Aceves) $300 ( youth/family program) Verizon – contacted David, he is sending them the partnership materials

Non-Profit Status: Jonath and David met to discuss the process. Jonath will be assisting and provide resources. The first step will be to get registered as a non-profit. Complete paperwork. Then work toward 501© 3 status (3-6 months)

Budget Overview: Izzy created a draft spreadsheet of Portland Latino Gay Pride budget. Includes estimated current balance, projected revenue and expenses. David provided information from 2008 and 2009 celebration to come up with 2010 estimated budget.

Communications: Izzy, Daniel, and Enrique explained time line and proposed activities. Asked for feedback regarding outreach activities, did some brainstorming about volunteering or participating in community events.

Discussed Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber Scholarship Fund: Unanimous vote, Portland Latino Gay Pride will donate $1000 toward scholarship in our name (scholarship fund includes a school match).

Art Proposal: Discussed proposed Art Exhibit and Reception. Chris, Ofilia, and Alan had met 3 times to draft the proposal. It includes a partnership with Q Center, feature Latino Gay artists, and art auction. Artists would be invited to submit items, the artwork selected would be donated for auction, with proceeds split between Q Center and Latino Gay Pride. Committee members were supported of the Art Exhibit, but concerned about time, capacity, and effort. It was a difficult discussion, an important question that came up was “how do we add” new events to the celebration if we don’t have the capacity? One suggestion that was made was to include the Art Exhibit concept as part of the closing festival. Al will be following up with Chris.

Organization and Committee Structure: We selected Organization Chairs and Events Chairs. For the next meeting, each Event Chair should have a vision and budget or as close as possible of his or her event. The Organization Chairs will be providing updates at each meeting.

Meeting Schedule – Agreed to begin meeting every 2 weeks. Upcoming meetings: Sunday, March 14, 11am – 1pm Jupiter Hotel; Sunday, March 28, 11am – 1pm  Jupiter Hotel
