Gracias to our 2012 Sponsors & Carnaval Review (a look back)

Thank you to our Sponsors & Partners for supporting Portland Latino Gay Pride and making Carnaval 2012 a tremendous success!

As this year’s Sponsor, they invested and made it possible for our community to come together, celebrate and recognize the Latino/a LGBTQ Experience. Here is a brief re-cap:

Carnaval 2012 began with Thursday’s (July 19) standing-room only opening reception at Portland’s Q Center. Noche Bohemia was an evening of poetry & music and included the presentation of this year’s Mariposa Awards and PLGP Scholarship Recipient.

The celebration continued with Friday night’s PLGP Dance Party at Boxxes Night Club. With Carnaval style Go-Go Boys and Girls, great music, and wall to wall people – nobody noticed the actual dance floor was closed for construction (nothing was going to keep us from dancing).

The closing event was Sunday’s relaxing Nuestras Latinas y Amigos Brunch, with new and old friends, at Dingo’s Restaurant. There was great food, good people, and plenty of conversation about Saturday’s Festival.

The PLGP Festival continues to be the highlight of our annual celebration. This year, we surpassed our own expectations and based on feedback, our community’s as well! The 2012 festival location, Pure Space, was a big hit. 25 Festival Exhibitors, Vibrant Table Catering and Bar Services, over 40 PLGP Volunteers, non-stop music, performers and special guests – made for an unforgettable experience. There were close to 800 attendees and approximately three-thousand dollars collected in festival donations. Stay tune for some photos courtesy of PLGP Board Member and Photographer, Carlos Silvas.

As noted, our Sponsors and Partners investment made it possible for our community to come together. We are committed to making our events accessible and welcoming for all. We rely on our Sponsors and Partners to make this happen. We are proud to say, once again, all of our 4-day event expenses were covered by our Sponsors. The revenue we generated at our events (through donations) will go towards our PLGP Scholarship Program(s) and next year’s celebration.

On behalf of the Portland Latino Gay Pride Board, gracias for believing in us, investing in our efforts, and supporting our community. Gracias.

Sincerely

PLGP Board
