Portland Latino Gay Pride 2008 and Miracle Theatre Group are pleased to include among this year’s activities the fun and heartfelt life story of Dan Guerrero in his fabulous one-man show “¡Gaytino!” — onstage at the Milagro Theatre on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7. With only two performances and limited seating, “¡Gaytino!” is sure to sell out early, but below you’ll find more information about how you can purchase your tickets now before they go on sale to the general public April 1st:

ABOUT “¡GAYTINO!”
Mariachi to Merman. Sondheim to César Chávez. Show tunes and canciones en español. This remarkable life journey from East L.A. in the ’50s to New York’s Great White Way in the ’60s and ’70s and back to Hollywood, moves from the back of the bus to the front of American pop culture. A father/son relationship and a treasured boyhood friendship drive this 75-minute autobiographical play through decades of Chicano history and the gay experience from a unique and personal perspective. Touching, hilarious and absolutely one-of-a-kind, Dan Guerrero finally brings his two fascinating worlds together in a riveting solo show, stopping in Portland for two nights only on his way to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

This year’s Portland Latino Gay Pride Celebration most exciting change is the expansion from a one day event to four days (Thursday, June 5th – Sunday, June 8th). As you will see from our list of events, we will have something for everybody:

*Gaytino! One man show featuring actor, producer, writer Daniel Guerrero

*Screening of award Winning Documentary, Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano

*Latino Gay Pride Papi Dance Party @ Boxxes – Featured DJ and Performers

*Chicas Who Brunch - Speaker and Networking Social

*Latino Gay Pride Festival – information booths, entertainers, speakers, food and family fun.

This year’s theme for the celebration will be, PAPIS y CHICAS: Portland Latino Gay Pride 2008

In addition to founding partners, El Hispanic Newspaper and Jupiter Hotel; Miracle Theatre, Boxxes Nightclub and Crush Restaurant & Bar have joined us to make the 2008 Portland Latino Gay Pride Celebration unforgettable. We have also moved into the “blog” arena. Thank you to Tinderboxcreative and owner Jeremy Wilkins, Portland Latino Gay Pride now has its very own website and blog.

Finally, we have just learned that ¡Gaytino! the one man show featuring actor Daniel Guerrero will be performed at the nationally acclaimed Kennedy Center in Washington DC. We are fortunate to have partnered with Miracle Theatre to bring this performance to Portland.

There are many ways to become involved this year. We will be holding planning meetings and everyone is welcome to attend. If you have any ideas for the celebration and suggestions of potential partners and sponsors, please let me know. It’s going to be an amazing celebration and all Papis and Chicas in Portland are going to be proud!
